She stood at the small window, looking outside, waiting. She had put the orange cup of tea, Joan, the housekeeper, had given her on the small wooden desk in the corner. "Make sure he drinks it, Ira", Joan had said. Therefore she waited.
The night was dark and cold. Even though the sky was partly clouded, many stars, some shining stronger, some weaker, decorated the sky above the forest. Trees were moving slighty in the wind. By the very thought of having to go outside in order to get home, the girl felt a chill running through her body.
Footsteps in the hallway approaching the room she was in, but stopped only a short distance away from the doorframe. Ira smiled. She had not closed the door, but had left it leaned on the doorframe. He must have noticed the change. She imagined ihm hesistating, counted the seconds of his confusion, him wondering weather there was somebody inside his room, or weather he had really not closed the door when he had gone to take a shower, then opening the door slowly. But he didn't. Inspite of what she had imaginged, the person outside the door walked away again, but not far enough for Ira to have time to wonder why, returned again after a few steps only and opened the door quickly. She turned around.
